If people take away just one thing from Changeology workshops, please let it be \u201cDon\u2019t tell why, show how.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTell why\u201d is arguing with people (i.e. trying to persuade with facts) \u2013 which is liable to generate resistance even in a sympathetic audience.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cShow how\u201d, however, avoids resistance because it appeals to people\u2019s natural curiosity and desire to grow their skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If we avoid arguing with people, we remove a big cause of denial and resistance. Yay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The reason so many people fail to act isn\u2019t lack of persuasion, it\u2019s lack of self-efficacy: the lack of confidence to perform the required action, and get results, without risk of failure or humiliation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, are we creating \u201cThat’s how you do it moments\u201d? = Crisp, followable depictions of the desired action, that anyone could follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
