They include:<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n– providing incentives<\/i><\/span> to lure grocery stores to underserved neighborhoods;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n– eliminating<\/i><\/span> outdoor ads for high-calorie, low-nutrient foods and drinks near schools; requiring calorie and other nutritional information<\/i><\/span> on restaurant menus; <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n– implementing local “Safe Routes to School” programs<\/i><\/span>; <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n– regulating<\/i><\/span> minimum play space and time in child care programs; <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n– rerouting<\/i><\/span> buses or developing other transportation strategies that ensure people can get to grocery stores; and <\/span><\/span><\/div>\n– using building codes<\/i><\/span> to ensure facilities have working water fountains.”<\/span> <\/span> <\/div>\n\nSo, here’s the dream team you’d need for a comprehensive attack on obesity at the local government level:<\/div>\n
