This workshop will equip you with the skills, understandings and processes to facilitate with confidence and get results with diverse groups of participants in almost any situation.

Facilitation Skills is an intensive training course for professionals who have facilitation roles. It's dynamic and interactive, with role plays and plenty of practice (after all, facilitation is best learnt by doing it!).

  • The eight keys to being an effective facilitator
  • Creating ground rules

  • Winning your licence to facilitate

  • Dealing with conflict

  • How to structure a satisfying session

  • Powerful processes for collaborative strategising

  • Plenty of hands-on practice in a safe environment

The workshop gives participants a practical step-by-step facilitation model which they use to develop and deliver sessions during the training.

There is also time to discuss the social psychology of facilitation and share tips and tricks that work in different situations.

The workshop agenda

9.00am - 11.00am
Understanding good facilitation; the Eight Keys to effective facilitation.

11.15am - 1.00pm
Designing a satisfying session; plus practice.

1.30pm - 2.45pm
Group work tools for brainstorming and prioritising.

2.45pm - 4.30pm
Planning and delivering a focused brainstorming and prioritisation session to tackle real life facilitation challenges faced by the participants.

About the presenter,
Les Robinson

Les Robinson, author of CoCreate - a Facilitator's Guide to Collaborative Planning is a trainer and facilitator who specialises in community change towards sustainability.

He regularly trains and advises state agencies and councils on the design of behaviour change and community participation programs.

Over 2000 managers and educators have attended Les's Enabling Change workshop - the master class in designing community change programs. Les is also the author of Enabling Eco-Action, the popular guide to involving the public in conservation.

Les was formerly SocialMarketing Director with SocialChange Media in Sydney.
